The Albany

Based in Deptford, The Albany is South East London's leading arts centre, presenting theatre, family shows, spoken word and music. It has been the much loved home for hundreds of artists since the early ’70’s when The Combination became the first resident company, hosted Rock Against Racism and, through the decades, many political and alternative artists, companies and comedians, as well as programming extraordinary work.

The Albany focuses on its own community with, amongst many activities, the wonderful Meet Me at The Albany for the local elderly communities, a host of activities for young people to engage with and develop skills, including working in the Albany garden.

In 2022, The Albany with Lewisham Council leads on the Borough of Culture, We Are Lewisham, a year long programme of performances, art, dance music, theatre and debate, celebrating Lewisham’s diverse communities.

For Dervish, The Albany has been a constant friend, providing nourishment, space, support and advice for Dervish and our Creative friends from London and beyond, always being part of the development of and programming our work and, welcoming our diverse audiences through the doors.
